The Confirmation curriculum used here at The Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC is tailored to the developmental needs of each class of students. We use the Affirming Faith curriculum published by the UCC as a basic text, along with the book written by Martin Copenhaver and Anthony Robinson, Words for the Journey. Other supporting materials come from a book by Lilian Daniel, When Spiritual But Not Religious is Not Enough, and a basic outline used to introduce every new member to: local and denominational church history, church governance and committee structure, basic beliefs of the UCC and events of historical significance.
It is the tradition in this congregation that Confirmation be completed, whenever possible, by the end of the eighth grade year. Older youth are accommodated, however – and all are welcome!
