Richard Carsey

Choir Director & Organist

Richard Carsey is the conductor for Disney on Classic, a yearly concert tour of Japan featuring 8 American singers and the 50-piece Orchestra Japan. On Broadway he was music director for “The House of Blue Leaves” starring Ben Stiller, and for five years he was a conductor for “The Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway. He also conducted the Broadway revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel”. He was music director and conductor for the US national tours of “The Phantom of the Opera”, “La Cage aux Folles”, and “Little House on the Prairie, the Musical”. For many years he was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Skylight Opera Theatre in Milwaukee, leading
more than 60 productions including several world premieres. He is a frequent guest conductor with symphony orchestras across the US, often working with Windborne Music, which presents classic rock and roll with orchestra. As an actor, Richard has appeared in the play “2 Pianos, 4 Hands” in regional theaters across the US and Canada. As a pianist and arranger, he has performed in over 25 countries, appearing in such exotic locales as Lima, Peru and Abu Dhabi, Dubai.
 
Richard and his husband, Jürg, who is a Nurse Practitioner and owner of Affirmative Health and Wellness, live near Waterbury with their three cats. He is proud to be an active part of the Plainville UCC community.
